Farewell to Rick Fields
Rick Fields memorial on 8/1 was a touching series of testimonials and memories and an outpouring of love. Several hundred people attended the ceremony at Spirit Rock. I had to leave before it was over but I heard over two hours of warm tributes and funny and sad stories from his widow, Marcia Cohen, Bernie sGlassman, Peter Warshall, and others. I will try to put a better description of the funeral/celebration of his life by someone else here.--DC 7/31/99--A reminder: the memorial for Rick Fields (who died on June 6) will be at Spirit Rock in Marin County CA on Sunday August 1 at 2:00 PM. Parking is limited and people are asked to carpool. 6\7\99--Today was the last day of Rick's life. He died at noon, at home, in bed, in the arms of his wife. He got to write the last page before the doctors and hospitals and machines could have a go; he never did like to be edited... They're following Tibetan protocol for the next three days he'll be undisturbed there at home and then cremation; no plans yet for a memorial, but soon. Say a prayer. Best, Tano--Gaetano Kazuo Maida, Berkeley, of Legacy Media--legacy@well.com. [Goodbye to Rick Fields--dear friend, wonderful Buddhist writer, and a terrific guy, loved by all, who outlasted for years his doctors' predications of how long he had to live. Truly an inspiring person. Love and light to you Rick. Gyate gyate paragate, parasamgate bodhi svaha!--DC] [There will be more here later on some of Rick's humerous and
historical writings and memories of Suzuki-roshi.--DC] ********* In lieu of flowers, donations in Rick's name are suggested to be sent

answered:] Ah, yes, we tried very hard to convince them to go with the title, even
